Mary Alice’s Gay Wedding Chapel
I look forward to the day when this page is no longer necessary. May it be 2011.
Just before I was ordained in 1991, two women asked me to marry them. It was a Jewish-Christian ceremony and a gay wedding. So, my first wedding was a wonderful celebration of unions on many levels. I have always honored gay unions and have performed these celebrations for 19 years.
Love and Spirit do not see the same boundaries as the legal system. Love and Spirit simply express through us without regard to gender. Although you cannot be legally married due to the Proposition 8 battle, which we are hoping will be overturned soon, you can celebrate your love in a public commitment ceremony with family and friends. This experience encourages your community of family and friends to support you throughout your lives together.
Take this opportunity to have your relationship acknowledged spiritually and communally. I welcome the diversity in relationships and take heart in love in all forms. I look forward to the day when you will have the choice to marry in the legal system and receive the respect of society and the benefits that come with a legal marriage.
